YOUNG NETBALLERS CONVERGING ON WANGANUI FOR WESTERN JUNIOR TOURNAMENT |
|
Thirty-five netball teams from across the Lower North Island will be heading to Wanganui this weekend (8-9 August) to compete in the Western Junior Tournament.
The Western Junior Tournament is an annual event and this year is the first it has been held in Wanganui. It is the highlight in the netball calendar for young netballers far and wide and is open to all Year 9 and 10 School teams. Schools will be travelling from as far as Wellington, Hawkes Bay and Taranaki to take part.
The tournament is seen as a fantastic opportunity for young players to be involved in a major competition and to gain some valuable experience by playing teams from outside their region. Selectors from the Western region will also be on hand to identify young talent and to announce a tournament team.
What is more Western Umpires will be available throughout the tournament weekend to provide coaching and development opportunities for young umpires to take part.
The competition starts at 9am Saturday 8th August and Finals will be held Sunday 9th August at 1.15pm.
