Four young netballers from the Western region have been selected for the New Zealand Secondary Schools Netball Team to play in the 2009 Trans Tasman Secondary Schools Netball Challenge to be held in Auckland in early June.
The team was selected from 24 players who attended trials in Christchurch last week and includes shooter Te Paea Selby-Rickit (TKKM o Te Rito), mid-courters Sheridan Bignall (TCS Tu Toa) and Anderley Gordon (Palmerston North Girls' High School), plus defender Greer Patterson (New Plymouth Girls' High School). Both Te Paea and Sheridan featured strongly in the Western team who achieved third overall in the recent Lois Muir Challenge.
The Trans Tasman Secondary Schools Netball Challenge runs from 5-7 June in Auckland, and will feature the Australian and NZ Secondary Schools teams along with Aotearoa Maori, Pasifika and Indigenous School Sport Australia.
