Three Western netballers have been included in a group of eighteen players who have been invited to trial for a place in the New Zealand U21 team to play at the 2009 World Youth Championships. The New Zealand U21 team trials will take place in Wellington, 12-13 May.
Netballers from the Western region to trial are Jodi Beaumont, Alanah Cassidy and Claire Kersten. Both Jodi and Alanah featured strongly in the Western team who placed third overall in the recent Lois Muir Challenge.
Three further Western players have been selected as reserves for the trials and they are Sam Durie-Aranga, Natalie Moore and Te Paea Selby-Rickit.
Following the trials, New Zealand U21 coach Yvette McCausland-Durie will name a team of twelve to represent New Zealand in the 2009 World Youth Championships to be held between 11-20 August in the Cook Islands.
New Zealand won gold at the previous Netball World Youth Championships in 2005.
